Every place on Earth has its mysteries. The Garden Route has always had one - the elephants in the Knysna Forest.
Recently cameras were put up in the forest to try and find out how many elephants were still left, if there are any. The research proved that there is at least one female elephant still roaming the area. According to sources, she is about 45 years old.
The research in the link below also shows that the DNA of at least 5 elephants has been found in the area. With the forest being approximately 3100km², the question arises as to whether we will ever know where another one or two might be hiding. And that is the beauty of it! Mother Nature hiding her treasures from humanity.
